The University of Maryland Baltimore County, is joining forces with two other countries to do research in the field of cybersecurity. It’s a high tech project aimed at protecting technology users at home and work.
The agreement, which was signed this month at an international conference, will allow researchers from UMBC, along with colleges in London and Japan, to work together to solve problems in the area of cybersecurity.
The three-nation group will tackle cybersecurity issues affecting information technology, health records, financial services and public transit.
“These are issues that Europe is looking at, that Asia is looking at, that we are looking at,” said Dr. Karl Steiner, vice president of research at UMBC.
Researchers said they will focus, in part, on ways to protect consumers who already use familiar and popular technology devices.
