Lauri Love’s bedroom overlooks the brick walls and barbed wire of HMP Highpoint in Suffolk. His father is the prison chaplain; his mother teaches industrial cleaning to the inmates. “Every night I look at those walls and remind myself that I’m still on the right side of them,” he says. “It might not be the case for long.”
Love is 31, autistic, highly intelligent and facing a 99-year sentence in an American prison for allegedly hacking into a host of US government websites — including those of the army, the Federal Reserve, the FBI, Nasa and the Missile Defence Agency.
